An Mingkang told reporters that in the Asia Pacific region, especially China, the demand for silicone products has been growing at a rapid rate. In the automotive, textile, electronics, and construction sectors, Dow Corning China's products are in short supply and have to be redeployed from US companies. Recently, Dow Corning made a survey of the market and predicted that in the next five years, the growth rate of China's organic silicon market will reach 15% to 20%, far higher than the global average, and the gap between supply and demand in the Chinese market is increasing. In the face of attractive market prospects, An Mingkang stated that on the one hand Dow Corning will increase investment in China, increase capital in the next few years by several hundred million US dollars, and build a world-class production base in Zhangjiagang to produce organic silicon intermediates, silicon dioxide, Silane and elastomers provide Chinese customers with high-quality and stable silicon products to meet market demand. On the other hand, Dow Corning will increase its product development and technical services in China. Based on the Shanghai Songjiang Technology and Application Service Center established in 2002, Dow Corning added additional investment to build the second phase of the project, which was completed in June this year and focuses on the development of silicone emulsions for textiles, electronics and coatings. New products, at the same time, the center has established the world’s most advanced analytical testing laboratory, providing analysis and technical support for micro-applications of organic silicon products in the electronics field, allowing customers to feel comfortable with the products, and supporting Chinese customers to conduct research.
