Still & Box with EMS Plan 1 in Chicago, 5-22-16

This is from Eric Haak:

Shortly before 0500 hours on Sunday morning, May 22nd, a working fire was reported at 6514 S. Ellis Avenue. Engine 63 arrived first and confirmed the presence of a fire. Engine 60 took the alley and used their deck gun to knock down most of the fire on the back porches, which were fully involved. The 5th Battalion responded and described it as a three-story, 75 by 100-foot apartment building, requesting a still and box. A family was trapped on the third floor and had to be rescued using ground ladders just moments before EMS Plan I was called in. Although the fire spread into the rear of several apartments, it was brought under control relatively quickly. I spent most of my time assisting with the rescue efforts, so there aren’t many firefighting shots from the rear. I’m not sure if anyone was actually transported from the scene, but it looked like all members of the family were in good condition. It was clear that smoke detectors were installed in the building, though it’s unclear whether they were the ones that alerted the residents to the fire.
