Monday evening (July 31, 2023), emergency responders from Buffalo Grove police and fire departments were dispatched to the busy intersection of Dundee Road and Arlington Heights Road following reports of a child trapped under a van while riding their bicycle. Upon arriving at the scene, the situation quickly escalated into a more complex rescue operation due to the nature of the entrapment. Additional personnel were called in to assist as firefighters from both Buffalo Grove and Arlington Heights worked diligently to stabilize the van and carefully lift it off the child's leg. Thankfully, the young victim remained conscious throughout the ordeal.
I happened to be passing by and managed to capture some images of the rescue effort. The firefighters' quick thinking and coordinated actions were crucial in ensuring the safety of the child. It was inspiring to see the teamwork between the Buffalo Grove Fire Department and neighboring units. The photos below provide a glimpse into the intense but controlled environment during such critical moments.
