According to customs statistics, in the first quarter of this year, the total import and export value of mechanical and electrical products at Zhenjiang Port reached US$94.35 million, which was 3.9 times that of the same period of last year, of which imports were US$81.5 million and exports were US$12.85 million, which were 4.9 times and 1.7 times the same period of last year. The main reasons for the rapid growth of the import and export of mechanical and electrical products are as follows: Firstly, the increase in investment by foreign-funded enterprises led to a substantial increase in equipment imports. In the first quarter, the value of imported foreign investment equipment was US$78.12 million. Second, the export of major mechanical and electrical products such as color TVs in Zhenjiang increased rapidly. The value of the exported color TVs was US$4.44 million, and all of them were Zhenjiang enterprise products.
