Delivery Department Promotes Construction of Shipment Logistics Public Information Platform

Liang Xiao'an, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Transport, spokesperson and director of the Department of Policy and Regulations, pointed out at the press conference of the Ministry of Transport on November 21 that it will promote the construction of a national public transport and logistics information platform.

Liang Xiaoan pointed out that at present, China's logistics industry is in a critical period of accelerating development and transformation and upgrading. The core is to adapt to modern logistics's cross-regional, cross-border, multi-link, integrated, and networked modes of operation. The construction of the transportation and logistics public information platform is to provide an efficient, safe, fast, and convenient “electronic hub” and information “highway” for the realization of interconnection of different information systems.

At present, although the public platform is still in the construction phase, social benefits have already begun to appear. The data shows that there are nearly 150,000 enterprises that are currently connected and interoperated on this platform. The total volume of business documents exchanged by enterprises through the platform totals more than 550 million, and the maximum daily exchange volume is up to 2 million. According to calculations, through the exchange of information and information sharing between service companies, the public platform will reduce social logistics costs by 550 million yuan annually, save input costs of social logistics informationization by 300 million yuan, and provide an annual average service value of 100 billion yuan.

Liang Xiao'an stated that in the next step, the Ministry of Transport will accelerate the construction of the basic exchange network of the public platform and expand the platform. First, it will initiate the construction of regional exchange nodes in line with the actual development of each province; the second is the promotion of railways, highways, waterways, civil aviation, and postal services. The construction of industry exchange nodes; the third is to guide the interconnection of large dragon skull enterprises and platforms, and to drive upstream and downstream enterprises in the supply chain.
