According to foreign media reports, BMW Group Chief Executive Officer Harald Krueger said on April 25 that the company expects sales growth in the Chinese market to be halved this year.

At the Beijing Auto Show, Kruger revealed to reporters that BMW's sales growth target in the Chinese market this year is 7%-8%, and the Group achieved a 15% year-on-year sales growth in China last year. He added, "We did not expect to achieve the same double-digit growth rate as in the past. This year it is expected to maintain a single-digit year-on-year growth."

In the first quarter of this year, overall automobile sales in China rose 2.8% year-on-year. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers predicts that national automobile sales in 2018 will increase by 3% year-on-year, which is basically the same as last year, but far below the increase of 13.7% in 2016.

BMW Group and Brilliance Automotive Group jointly established a joint venture in China. In addition, the German automaker plans to establish a new joint venture with Great Wall Motors to manufacture Mini brand cars in China.

In the middle of this month, the Chinese government announced that in 2018, the foreign equity ratio of new energy vehicles will be lifted, and by 2022, foreign equity ratios, including passenger cars and commercial vehicles, will be abolished, and the number of joint ventures will be no more than two. . Krueger said that the Chinese government plans to relax restrictions on the number of foreign-invested companies' JVs in China (up to a maximum of 50% of the foreign companies' joint ventures) and will not affect the cooperative relationship between BMW and Chinese companies, and they also have related negotiations with them. Krueger said that despite the interference of factors such as logistics costs and tariffs of trading countries, BMW Group will continue to export cars from China to other countries or regions for a long time.
