The Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) released "2012 Factbook" on February 10, 2012. This publication mainly analyzes the US tire shipments in 2011.
According to RMA statistics, shipments of domestic replacement tires fell by 2.8% in 2011 from 200.6 million in the previous year to 195 million, and 28.5 million replacement trucks for light trucks. The previous year was unchanged, compared with 28.7 million in the previous year; shipments of truck replacement tires and bus replacement tires increased by 4.4%, from 15.8 million in the previous year to 16.5 million.
In 2011, the United States' original tire shipments all showed a significant growth trend. The number of passenger car original tires increased by 7.8% to 35.7 million; the volume of original light-weight trucks was 4.2 million, an increase of 16.6%; and the shipments of original tires for trucks increased by 53.1% to 4.9 million.
