According to the statistics of Jilin Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, according to statistics, in 2009, the output of automobiles in Jilin Province was 1.235 million, an increase of 44.3% year-on-year; among them, the production of cars was 862,000, an increase of 44.8% year-on-year. While the automobile production and sales in Jilin Province both achieved significant breakthroughs, the international auto market is still in a low state and the auto exports have not yet achieved a fundamental change. According to statistics, in 2009, the export delivery value of the automotive industry in Jilin Province achieved 1.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 58.7%.
In 2009, Jilin Province supported new energy vehicles as an important strategic emerging industry. In the development and application of new energy vehicle products, Jilin Province has focused on promoting the industrialization of hybrid buses. After years of unremitting efforts, FAW Bus Corporation has reached international advanced level in hybrid power and gas-electric hybrid technology, and is now developing second-generation hybrid power technology. In 2009, FAW Bus Co., Ltd. has supplied 150 Dalian diesel-electric hybrid buses in batches for demonstration operation, and gas-electric hybrid buses have also produced 50 vehicles and put into demonstration operations on the Changchun bus line.
To further accelerate the research and development of the new energy automotive industry, in December 2009, Jilin Province established the Jilin Provincial New Energy Automobile Industry Alliance, which is headed by FAW Group Corporation.
Around the R&D and production of new energy vehicles, Jilin Province has also formed a supporting system for the three core components of new energy vehicles in batteries, motors and electronic control systems. Liaoyuan City has formed lithium-ion power battery capacity of 60 million ampere-hours, and an annual output of more than 3,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate material project was basically completed and put into production.
