However, the length of the straight pipe may need multiple pipe diameters to reduce noise interference. Therefore, installing isolation equipment is more convenient and effective. Experiments show that filters, heat exchangers and turbine equipment are all good noise-reducing devices. Ultrasonic flow meter elbows and blind tees can also reduce noise. The best way is to install a blind tee. After the fluid passes through the blind tee, the noise is reflected back. The use of two valves to share the pressure drop also reduces noise, but it is usually more costly.

Ultrasonic noise reducer has a significant noise reduction effect. Denoisers use a single composite reflective device with the same wavelength as the flowmeter, foam or some viscous, elastic, absorbent devices to eliminate noise. Tests show that this method can reduce 30% of the noise. The noise reducer can be installed directly downstream of the flowmeter. The flange connection will not affect the accuracy of the flowmeter. Ultrasonic noise dampers usually block and have a certain pressure drop, so they lose some of their advantages. However, in some cases, the pressure drop of the noise reducer is negligible compared with the noise caused by the larger pressure drop of the regulating valve.
