REV Group announces electric fire truck

REV Fire Group, a division of REV Group Inc., one of the leading manufacturers of specialty vehicles and related aftermarket parts and services, has announced the launch of the first fully electric North American-style fire apparatus. This marks a major milestone in the evolution of emergency response vehicles.
The new electric fire truck was developed in partnership with Emergency One Group LTD, the company that previously created the world’s first EV fire truck. The vehicle is equipped with 316 kW of high-performance automotive-grade batteries, providing the industry's longest electric pumping duration. This means fire departments can operate purely on electric power for extended periods, reducing fuel dependency and environmental impact.
"Our advanced battery system allows us to complete a full NFPA pump test while maintaining a safer, lower center of gravity," said Roger Lackore, Senior Director of Product Development at REV Fire Group Engineering. To ensure reliability during long operations or in emergencies, a range-extending diesel engine is included as a backup for use beyond three to four hours on a hydrant or during blackouts and natural disasters.

Available for delivery in 2022, the vehicle features a North American design and offers full customization to meet the specific needs of each department. Built using locally sourced components, it ensures easy access to replacement parts, helping departments maintain their equipment in optimal condition. Preorders are now open through any E-ONE, KME, Ferrara, or Spartan ER dealer.
