Of Interest … College of Lake County

Excerpts from DailyHerald.com:

The College of Lake County (CLC) stands out as the only community college in Illinois offering an associate degree in Firefighter Basic Operations that includes a hands-on internship with a local fire department. Since the program launched in August 2016, students have consistently praised the real-world experience gained through their internships, calling it one of the most valuable parts of their education.

Of the 10 CLC students who completed a two-semester unpaid internship with the Grayslake Fire Protection District, three were hired as part-time firefighters by the same department. Another four found part-time positions with other local fire departments, and one now works as a wildland firefighter in Oregon. This success rate highlights the effectiveness of the program in preparing students for real careers in emergency services.

A key advantage of CLC’s fire science technology program is that graduates earn not just an A.A.S. degree but also become eligible for certification at the Fire Basic Operations level by the Illinois State Fire Marshal. Additionally, they receive EMT licensure from the Illinois Department of Public Health, giving them a strong foundation in both firefighting and emergency medical care.

The internship program was developed through a formal intergovernmental agreement between CLC and the Grayslake Fire Protection District. Both faculty members and fire department leaders work closely together to select candidates, provide training, and assess student performance throughout the program.

Chief John Christian of the Grayslake Fire Protection District praised the students, saying, “CLC students are well-prepared for their roles as interns. They understand our equipment, procedures, and policies. We’re proud to have such a strong partnership with the college.” The Grayslake Fire Protection District serves over 37,000 residents and responds to approximately 4,000 calls annually.

If you're interested in joining the program, there are specific steps and requirements to follow. All applicants must first complete the Introduction to Fire Science course as a prerequisite. Additionally, students are expected to complete the degree within two years.

YK Series circular Vibrating Screen, also called vibrator screener machine, or vibratory screenig machine, can be used to separate minerals into various sizes for further processing in crusher. It incorporates a vibrator, eccentric block, mesh, spring, triangular belt and motor and is used for discharging bulky goods, sand, gravel, coal and coke from hopper to crusher. We can design and supply all ranges of vibrating screens according to the capacity and requirement.

The circular vibrating screen causes the motion trajectory to approximate a circle, so it is simply referred to as a circular vibrating screen. The circular vibrating screen is a multi-layer, high-efficiency new vibrating screen. The circular vibrating screen adopts the simplified eccentric shaft exciter and the eccentric block to adjust the amplitude. The material sieve has a long line and many screening specifications. It is widely used in product classification of mining, building materials, transportation, energy, chemical and other industries.
