In normal industrial production and life, as long as the power transmission line reaches a certain temperature, it may cause a fire, and the arc can precisely create a high temperature. The fault arc detecting device is prepared for the case where the arc generates an instantaneous high temperature. When there is insulation damage, contact failure, lightning strike, mechanical external force and other conditions in the power transmission, the probability of occurrence of fault arc is greatly increased. The fault arc detector is used to detect the occurrence of fault arc on the line, in and around the wire insulation layer. The flammable material emits an alarm signal before it is burned, effectively reducing the chance of electrical fires.

With the popularity of electrical appliances and the state's emphasis on electrical security, the relevant national standards have been continuously updated in recent years. According to Article 9.1.3 of GB50116—2013, electrical fire monitoring systems should be based on the nature of buildings and electrical fire hazards. Set and determine the form and installation location of the electrical fire monitoring detector based on the electrical wiring and the specific conditions of the electrical equipment. The fault arc detection device shall be installed in a space above 12 m, and the length of the protection line shall not be greater than 100 m. It shall be connected to the system circuit and installed in the distribution box. In addition, if there is no fire control room and the number of electrical fire monitoring detectors is less than 8, the independent electrical fire monitoring detector can be used.
