Here's a message from Eric Haak:
Below are some photos taken by Eric showing Chicago Fire Department units working at the scene of a fire at a vacant building in Chicago’s 16th Battalion on Thursday afternoon. The structure was 250 feet by 150 feet and had been empty. It appeared that intense fire conditions were present in the loading dock area, which led to the roof collapsing. However, the responding companies managed to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further into the building.

These images capture the efforts of the firefighters as they worked to control the blaze and secure the area. The building, though vacant, still posed a significant risk due to the intensity of the fire. The crews used ladders, engines, and specialized equipment to tackle the situation. It’s clear that their quick response helped limit the damage and ensure the safety of the surrounding area. The photos also show the aftermath, with hot spots being carefully addressed and the scene gradually being brought under control. This is a great example of how well-trained and dedicated the firefighters are in handling challenging situations.
