CODE 4: 3699 CUBA RD
Thu 03/31/2016 @ 21:46
The incident started as a brush fire reported by the police. Long Grove Fire Department arrived first and, upon entering the long driveway, discovered a fully involved, vacant one-story building. The call was immediately upgraded to a Code 4. They took a defensive approach from the beginning, successfully preventing the fire from spreading to nearby trees and dense brush. Later in the night, the fire was escalated to a Box Alarm, specifically for tenders.
- Three lines were deployed: two 2½-inch lines and one 1¾-inch line. One of the 2½-inch lines was later switched to a Blitzfire portable master stream during the operation.
- Tender 56 served as the primary attack pumper.
- Prospect Heights Tanker 9 was the first mutual aid unit on scene and provided water to Tender 56.
- Palatine Rural Tanker 36 was the second mutual aid tanker and also assisted with operations.
- Palatine Engine 82 parked near the driveway and pumped water from Cuba Road to Prospect Heights Tanker 9.
