Type WE valves are electrically operated directional spool valves used to control the flow direction, start, and stop of hydraulic systems.
The valve consists of a housing, one or two solenoids, a control spool, and return springs. In the de-energized state, the control spool is held in the neutral position by the return springs.
Solenoids actuate the control spool via a wet pin mechanism, allowing precise control over fluid flow. The system must be properly filled with oil to ensure smooth operation.
When energized, the solenoid moves the spool, enabling flow from P to A and B to T, or P to B and A to T, depending on the position.
If the solenoid is de-energized, the spool returns to its original position using the return springs. An optional override button allows manual control under certain conditions.
There are different versions of the valve, including standard and impulse types. Impulse spools allow for two positions with a detent, eliminating the need for continuous power.
A cartridge throttle may be added to manage high flow rates during switching, improving system performance and stability.
For applications with voltage fluctuations, it's recommended to use solenoids with a wide voltage range. For high protection requirements, a waterproof plug is advised.
